Here you will be able to see the spectacular decorated floats, golf carts, bicycles and more in which will be judged and awarded a prize.  If you are in search of fireworks while you are vacationing with us, then head over to Ocean Isle Beach Pier on July 3rd starting 9:00 pm. Southport 4th of July Festival

Every year the City of Southport has a wonderful 4th of July celebration that begins on July 1st and ending on July 4th, 2023. Here you and your family will be able to enjoy several different things such as the Flag Raising Ceremony, Veteran’s Recognition Ceremony and so much more. There will be plenty of things for the kids to do as there will be entertainment, games and even a pancake breakfast. Admission into the festival is free but bring money with you to grab food and crafts. Make visiting this festival for years to come as there is something for everyone to celebrate!

Wilmington Fireworks

Wilmington has some great fireworks display that you don’t want to miss this year. There are many different places where you and your family can sit down and relax to watch the annual 4th of July fireworks. One of the best places to sit and watch them is at Riverfront Park near downtown . Bring a blanket or towel to sit down and enjoy the amazing display. The fireworks will begin around 9:00 pm so come downtown and grab a quick bite to eat and go grab yourself a nice spot by the waterfront to watch the fireworks display. What a fun evening to spend in nearby Wilmington with the family.

A Parade Just for the Pups

Who doesn’t like bringing their pet on vacation with them? We know of many families wouldn’t consider a vacation unless they brought their best fur friends with them. And bringing them on this trip can be extra special for them as the Sandy Paws Parade happens. On Friday, December 2, 2022 you can come celebrate the holiday season with your pup on our pet-friendly beaches. Bring your pup out for a short stroll as part of the doggie parade. The parade will begin at Town Hall at 10:00 am and after the parade you and your pup can head over to the Holden Beach Pavilion. Here you will get to have the opportunity to take a picture with Santa and your pups. What a fun way to start out the holiday season with your pets and family!

Why not head on over to the Holiday Craft Market on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Silver Coast Winery. Here you will be able to find some pretty unique gifts that we know someone will love. Handcrafted gifts are always the best to give to someone because it means it came from the heart. Not only are you helping out a local artist, but you are also finding that perfect gift for someone you love. There will be coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies for you to enjoy that will help make this year’s holiday market the best!

It’s a Boat Parade

For those who would like to come see a different kind of parade, we have the perfect one for you. Come to the Southport Marina in Southport on Saturday, December 10, 2022 beginning at 7:00 pm. Here you and the family will be able to see the best holiday parade on the water around town. Be sure to bring a chair, a blanket and find that perfect spot to view along the historic banks of the Cape Fear River. You will see boats of all sizes dressed up in their finest holiday decor and witness the twinkling lights on the water and the sky. Cheer for your favorite decorated boats judged by many and students from the Southport Elementary School Art Class. Come early so you can enjoy one of the many activities that will be happening in town!

Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt

On Saturday, December 10, 2022 bring the family to the Bill Smith Park in Southport and hunt for candy canes. Be sure to bring a flashlight because we don’t want to have a Flashlight Candy Cane hunt without one. What fun would that be if you couldn’t find any? Here you will be able to find candy canes, green and red eggs on the softball field. And to help you warm up a bit after spending some time to find the goodies, there will be hot chocolate and even a visit with Santa. This can be a perfect photo opportunity for all those who don’t want to wait in the line for Santa at the mall.

Everywhere you look there are beautiful decorations strung up for the holiday, lots and lots of local events to take part in, and the joy of the season just seems to be filling everyone! Don’t miss the Season of Light Holiday Shows at Ingram Planetarium this year. See many of the world’s holiday customs, all of which involve lighting up the winter season – from the burning Yule log and sparkling Christmas tree lights to the traditional ritual of the Hanukkah Menorah. Learn winter constellations and astronomical explanations for the “Star of Bethlehem.”  A fun and entertaining show for all ages runs twice a day, once right before the seasonal favorites sing-along show, Laser Holidays, each Thursday, Friday and Saturday (except Saturday, Dec. 24th) and each day from the day after Christmas until New Year’s Eve. Per-show admission is $9.50 for adults (13-61), $8.50 for seniors (62 and +), $7.50 for children (3-12), and free for ages 2 and under. Location: 7625 High Market St, Sunset Beach, NC.

The 27th Annual Christmas Tour of Homes in Southport is from 2-7 p.m. on December 10 in Historic Downtown Southport. Tickets and maps are available at the Fort Johnston-Southport Museum Visitor’s Center and the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce. Complimentary trolley transportation will be available. Tickets are: $10.00 per in advance. $15.00 per on day of tour. Limited number of tickets sold.

The 24th annual North Carolina Christmas Festival and Parade is at the Leland Town Hall Park. The parade is 10 a.m. – 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 10, and will follow Town Hall Drive, from Division Drive to the BB&T entrance way. Immediately following the Christmas parade, the Christmas Festival will last until 4pm. There will be food vendors, children’s entertainment, music and holiday performances.

Grissettown Longwood Fire & Rescue in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, will be hosting their 11th Annual Christmas Train Show on Dec 10, 2016 – Dec 11, 2016, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Layouts from the smallest “Z” scale to larger N, HO, O and G-scale models in over 20 different layouts. The show is fun and enjoyable for train enthusiasts and kids of all ages. The displays are highlighted with authentic train sounds, adding bells and whistles to an already popular pastime. There will be baked goods, train vendors, a train raffle and Santa Claus! Free admission. Location: 758 Longwood Road, Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

Make and Take Gifts for Children will take place at the Museum of Coastal Carolina from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on December 22 and 23. The museum will supply children with a shell, paints and craft supplies to make their own ornament to take home for the holidays. Children can stop by the Museum to pick up a template letter to Santa (or bring their own letter with complete return address indicated). Completed letters can be dropped off through December 17 in our Santa Mail Box located at the front of the museum. Location: 21 E 2nd St, Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

Polar Express Holiday Show

With so much going on in the area for the holidays we try to get out to as many holiday events as we possibly can. There’s plenty to see and do around Wilmington that you won’t want to miss out on. We’ll share with you just a few of them here. 11th Annual Polar Express Holiday Show

This year’s holiday festivities in Wilmington include the 11th Annual Polar Express Holiday Show at the Wilmington Railroad Museum, 505 Nutt St., Wilmington, NC. Come enjoy a special reading of the “Polar Express” story, a visit from Santa Claus, hot cocoa and more. Shows are Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 12-13 and Dec. 19-20 at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Just $5 per person, children under age 2 admitted free. Prepaid reservations are required. The Railroad Museum also has The Christmas Train and Light Spectacular going on every weekend through Dec. 27. The museum lights up their model railroads for night viewing under thousands of holiday lights. This light show takes place every Friday and Saturday evening from 6:30-8 p.m. A one-of-a-kind show not to be missed, it costs just $5 per person. New train displays and over 2,000 additional lights have been added this year.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church presents Coastal Carolina Christmas:
The Wilmington Boys Choir

Friday, December 11 at 7 p.m.
A concert featuring carols by the Wilmington Boys Choir and selections from Handel’s Messiah by the choir of St. Paul’s, soloists and chamber orchestra. A Sparkling Chocolate Reception will follow. $25 per person.

Saturday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m.
A jazz cabaret performance by Al DiMarco. Includes an appetizer and beverage reception. $25 per person.

Sunday, December 13 at 5:30
The Wilmington Boys Choir will perform “Christmas by Candlelight” –a collection of carols and holiday classics.
