Explore the decks of a 728 foot warship that participated in every major Pacific naval offensive during World War II. This attraction is open every day of the year. A two hour self guided walking tour goes through crew quarters, galley, sick bay, engine room, pilot house, battery plotting rooms, a museum, and one of the 16-inch gun turrets. Admission- $9, $8 for seniors and military, and $4.50 for children 6-11.

Remains of the largest earthwork fort of Civil War Confederacy, as well as a target for the heaviest naval bombardment of land fortifications in history. A reconstructed gun battery, remains of the fort, and a musuem are open. Freen admission. From April 1- Sept 30 open 9-5 Mon-Sat, and 1-5 Sun.

A self-guided tour through 12 stations displaying items recovered from Civil War blockade runners and other offshore wrecks, ship models, shells, sharks teeth, commercial fishing, navigation exhibits, and a 2,000 year old Indian canoe fragment. Open 9AM-5PM Tues-Sat. Admission $2 for adults over 16, $1 for senior citizens, and free for children.

The oldest remaining lighthouse in NC is open for tours. A climb of about 100 steps and wooden ladder leads visitors to a glass enclosed room with views of the island, the sea, and the river. Admission is $3. Ferry ride to the island is $15 for adults and $8 for children
