Dear Friends,

As of late yesterday evening Holden Beach opened up the island to property owners and residents only, provided they had current hurricane stickers.  Today only vendors and office workers with hurricane stickers were allowed on the island.

Last week with the incoming intensity of the storm, (CAT 4), Holden Beach Vacations had to evacuate our entire oceanfront office including computers, equipment, records etc. should the worse happen.  Since the storm slowed and weakened and came in just north of us, we are thankful to report, that with the exception of some minor shingle and siding damage, our beautiful island is in good shape!!

We have spent the morning unloading the U-Haul and are currently working on reconnecting our systems.

We have had some crews out assessing the homes and while most of them are just fine, we are finding a few with more major water damage from the storm.  We will continue to spend the rest of today and into the coming days to check the rental homes (over 100) to determine if there is any damage and if so, what kind etc.  We will be notifying our property owners of their homes condition and will be contacting guests if there have been any issues that would affect your reservation.

We have had no information yet from Town officials as to when the general public will be allowed on the island.  However once we do we will send out a notice letting incoming guest know.

Please keep in mind that many of the local employees and vendors (housekeeping repairmen, office staff, restaurant owners and staff etc.) evacuated the area and our now having trouble getting home due to inland flooding.

As you can see we have had and will continue to have a lot going on and we thank you in advance for your understanding and patience of our situation. The process does take time and we assure you that just as soon as we know the island status and the status with your home, we will be in touch.

Thank you again for your understanding and patience,

The Staff of Holden Beach Vacations
